{challenges} another once

on

You know I adore Carl V. at Stainless Steel Droppings’ (non)challenges. It is time for ‘Once Upon a Time’…VIII.  And it kicks off just as I am approaching Spring Break!

“Friday, March 21st begins the eigth annual Once Upon a Time Challenge. This is a reading and viewing event that encompasses four broad categories: Fairy Tale, Folklore, Fantasy and Mythology, including the seemingly countless sub-genres and blending of genres that fall within this spectrum. The challenge continues through June 21st and allows for very minor (1 book only) participation as well as more immersion depending on your reading/viewing whims.”

“While this event retains the word “challenge” from its earliest days, the entire goal is to read good books, watch good television shows and movies, and most importantly, visit old friends and make new ones. There are several ways to participate, and I hope you can find at least one to your liking:

I dunno what I shall read or watch for the challenge. I will likely be raiding Natalya’s Fairytales/Mythology books aka the bottom book shelf. Too, another good reason to check out fellow participants’ Reviews and Lists? recommendations.

allow me to take this opportunity to share Carl’s announcement of a group-read of a much anticipated installment in the Brandon Sanderson Stormlight Archive series: Words of Radiance.

Words of Radiance is a BIG book, and our intention with this read is for it to be low key, stress free, and above all, great fun. Thus we are spreading this out over the course of ten weeks, with roughly 100 pages of reading for each week. Discussions will be hosted by various readers involved in the event.” –Carl V.
